Um pobre rapaz tinha casado, e para arranjar a sua vida, logo ao fim do primeiro ano teve de ir trabalhar para muito longe. Ele era bom homem, e pediu ao senhor que lhe fosse guardando o dinheiro do seu trabalho. Ao fim de uns quatro anos j\u00e1 tinha uma boa quantia, que j\u00e1 lhe dava para comprar uma quinta, e ent\u00e3o quis voltar para casa. O patr\u00e3o disse-lhe:
– O que queres, tr\u00eas bons conselhos ou o teu dinheiro?
– O dinheiro!
-Mas podem roubar-to pelo caminho e matarem-te.
– Pois ent\u00e3o venham de l\u00e1 os tr\u00eas conselhos!
Ent\u00e3o o patr\u00e3o disse-lhe:
– O primeiro conselho que te dou \u00e9 que nunca te metas por atalho, vai sempre pelo caminho principal. O segundo, \u00e9 que nunca pernoites em casa de homem velho casado com uma mulher mais nova.
E o terceiro, \u00e9 nunca te decidas pelas primeiras apar\u00eancias.
O rapaz guardou na mem\u00f3ria os tr\u00eas conselhos e quando se ia embora, a dona da casa deu-lhe um bolo para o caminho; mas disse-lhe que era melhor com\u00ea-lo em casa com a sua mulher.
O pobre rapaz partiu e encontrou na estrada um fazendeiro que ia vender gado e assim foramse acompanhando, quando chegaram a um ponto da estrada, o fazendeiro disse que cortava ali por uns atalhos, porque poupava meia hora de caminho.
O rapaz n\u00e3o quis saber e continuou pela estrada principal, quando ia chegando a um povoado viu o fazendeiro todo esfarrapo e sem o seu gado.
Pois tinha sido assaltado e ficou sem o seu gado.
O rapaz pensou:
– J\u00e1 me serviu o primeiro conselho!
Seguiu o seu caminho, e chegou j\u00e1 de noite a uma pens\u00e3o, onde foi beber e tencionava passar l\u00e1 a noite; mas quando viu que o dono era um senhor de uma certa idade e que a sua esposa era muito mais nova do que ele. Decidiu pagar e foi andado pela noite fora.
Quando chegou \u00e0 vila mais pr\u00f3xima, ouviu dizer que a justi\u00e7a andava em busca de um assassino que tinha fugido com a mulher do dono da pens\u00e3o e que fora morto naquela noite. O rapaz lembrou-se ent\u00e3o do segundo conselho e ficou feliz por ter aceitado o conselho em vez do dinheiro.
Apressou o passo para poder chegar a casa ainda naquele dia. E l\u00e1 chegou; quando se ia aproximando da porta, viu um homem dentro de casa sentado ao lume com a sua mulher! A sua primeira rea\u00e7\u00e3o foi matar os dois, mas lembrou-se do terceiro conselho e decidiu entrar.
A mulher veio logo abra\u00e7\u00e1-lo e disse:
-Aqui est\u00e1 o meu irm\u00e3o, que chegou hoje do Brasil. Que dia! E tu tamb\u00e9m voltaste ao fim de quatro anos!
Abra\u00e7aram-se todos muito contentes, quando foram jantar, o rapaz partiu o bolo e apareceulhe todo o dinheiro que tinha ganho enquanto esteve longe de casa.
Ainda existe quem fa\u00e7a o bem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
