Pela manh\u00e3, albardaram o burro e arrancaram os tr\u00eas por ali a fora. Ao passar a primeira povoa\u00e7\u00e3o, algu\u00e9m virou-se e disse:<br>\u2013 Parece imposs\u00edvel! Vejam l\u00e1, ent\u00e3o com um burro ali cheio de for\u00e7a e sa\u00fade v\u00e3o os dois ali a p\u00e9 e o burro ali na boa vida, sem levar ningu\u00e9m \u00e0s costas?<br>Passaram a povoa\u00e7\u00e3o, e o velho lembrou-se: \u201cVamos mas \u00e9 montar no burro\u201d. E assim foi, montaram-se os dois no burro.<br>Quando chegaram \u00e0 povoa\u00e7\u00e3o seguinte, diziam as pessoas quando eles passavam:<br>\u2013 Vejam l\u00e1, desgra\u00e7ado do animal, com os dois a cavalo no burro. Como \u00e9 que o animal h\u00e1-de aguentar daqui at\u00e9 \u00e0 feira com os dois a cavalo?<br>Ent\u00e3o o av\u00f4 pensou: \u201co garoto vai em cima e eu vou a p\u00e9\u201d.<br>Na povoa\u00e7\u00e3o seguinte, as pessoas come\u00e7aram a dizer:<br>\u2013 Vejam l\u00e1: o garoto cheio de sa\u00fade podia ir \u00e0 pata e vai o velho, ali, desgra\u00e7ado, a p\u00e9, e ele \u00e9 que vai em cima do burro. Vejam l\u00e1 se isto pode ser\u2026<br>Ele p\u00f4s o garoto em p\u00e9 e montou-se o velho no burro; e seguiram. Na povoa\u00e7\u00e3o a seguir, dizem as pessoas:<br>\u2013 Olha, veja l\u00e1: agora vem a crian\u00e7a, coitadinha, a p\u00e9 e o velho ali repimpado em cima do burro. Vejam l\u00e1 se isto tem algum jeito\u2026<br>Passaram a povoa\u00e7\u00e3o e j\u00e1 n\u00e3o sabiam o que haviam de fazer.
